the CRX of DOOM! progress log, and fixing a million little problems.
Update Brakes/Rims/Tires Page 3
Hey everyone here are some pictures of my 1990 CRX si, or rather pictures of the problems with it. I will be asking for suggestions and fixing common problems on a regular basis. Upgrading things as i go. The car was purchased a few months ago with the jdm front end. E-Gay exhaust, DC short throw shifter, Stock SOHC ZC engine, and Saffron Orange paint done by maaco. They forgot some stuff. But not as many things as the original owner did. Here we go...
Here she is.

Passenger side

Minor damage on the passenger side fender/door

Damage/rust on the passenger rear wheel well

Probably the cleanest view of the car

Drivers side. I need that plastic trim piece on the door. If anyone knows the part number from Majestic i will order it. Thanx.

Heres what bothers me the most. The bumper sags low. Macco painted the trim piece in the bumper Orange. Im missing the jdm bumper light on the drivers side. The clear corner lights are being held on by shoelaces....no joke. Macco also painted the bottom of the bumper orange where it should be black.

Here are the clear corners
and the shoelaces.

Another of my jdm woes. The headlight are kinda just rigged into the headlight housing by zip-ties. I need the things that hold them on. i have no idea what they are called. but if someone knows...HELP! hehe

Maaco Forgot to paint the rear hatch jam. Or rather the guy i bought it from forgot to tell them.

Oh ya. Engine bay..Note the autozone vacuum lines
If anyone knows where i can buy new oem ones lemme know.

Another little problem...This hose is blocked of with a bolt. It has coolant in it. Its coming from the under side of the intake manifold. ant the metal tube is just sucking in air. Im pretty sure it goes to the alve cover. Any advice?

Part one of operation CRX of DOOm is to get this thing smogged. Wich includes getting my CEL to go away.
Part two is Operation Alarm.
Part three is to get started on the rims, tires, suspention, brakes and rotors.
After that, minor body work, paint and engine upgrades.
Comments welcome! Good or bad.
I will keep you guys updated.

maaco is for quick cheap paint jobs.. the reason the jam wasnt done is because they dont give a crap and you probably have to pay extra for that. what about the door jams and engine bay, were those painted?
ok looked at the pictures again.. engine bay isnt painted so im guess neither are the door jams.. ya that was probably one of those 350 dollar paint jobs. so no one forgot to paint anything. that hose is a coolant line.. its supposed to connect to the intake manifold.. the other hose thats goes into your intake is supposed to be connected to the valve cover.

im not positive but I think the side markers are on backward or upside down or on the wrong side, I think the bump is supposed to be toward the front of the car
my front bumper used to sag like ****, I fixed that problem by removing the bumper, and pushing the bumper support up a bit, it's real easy. Then after that I tweaked it to perfection with a little convincing. Good luck buddy

I will try it out soon. Im going to take it off and sand and paint the front trim black, so while im at i will "convince" the bumper to hold it up properly.

damn!! get some h4h's for those lights, pm me I might have the rubber pieces that go on back to cover the bulb. It look like someone jammed the original 9006 bulbs in there, they dont belong. Get the proper H4H bulbs, you can pick em up pretty cheap at ebay or password
Wow, looks like they had good intentions. Ok, first 99.9 percent of the time macco just paints the shell. What that means is you pull the car into the bay and they just spray it the way it was drove in. Doors, hood, hatch closed. Thats why macco is so cheap, they just tape off the windows and be done with it.
Now the holes that has a big bolt in it....I cannot remember because its been 5 years ago but I think that either goes to your ac system or your CAI. At first when you said coolant I thought AC but then when I seen the picture it rings a bell to something that was hooked to my CAI. Either way you could probably just delete it completely.
Looks like you have alot of work on your hands, ahh at least your car looks good 50 feet away at 50 mph...haha. Good luck

Well its two hoses in one. the short metal one comes FROM my stock intake and i think it goes to the valve cover. But the one with the bolt... Dunno. I dont have a/c so i think im just going to cap it up at the base so i dont have a hose just kickin it in the bay. THANKS Herminator! made that pic bigger for ya

Either keep it the Saffron Orange and paint all the missing pieces. Or Paint it back the O.G. red. Havent decided yet.
Orange County CA of all places. The guy lived by a place called InlineFour. He gave me all the reciepts for the work that was done there. He even had the paint reciepts from Maaco.
The guy was a big jdm fan and the car was covered in "new driver" badges and jdm stickers. When i went to buy it he was giving me the list of jdm parts on it and i just pretended i didnt know what jdm was.
The car cost less than the rims and tires i just bought for it!

nice hahahah i see u have lots of work to do...since u got the maaco receipt paint...hahah how much was it? i was thinking about doing it to my DD which needs a quick paint job
If you look on the back of the head, there should be a nipple for that hose. It will be right on the corner pretty much. That coolant line runs from your head to your intake manifold. You can pull both metal lines out of there, run one hose from your intake to your valve cover (or get a breather)
And then use one of the coolant hoses at the ends of the metal lines to run from the IM to the head. It is what I have been doing on my cars for years. Works like a champ.

Well. Im going to be picking up some simple green and some scrub brushes, and im going to clean my engine bay. While im at it im going to

My car is running fine the way it is now...so im sure deleting that coolant line will be fine. And im petty sure the line coming from the Intake piping connects to the vent on the valve cover.
