Different hub sizes??
I'm replacing front wheel bearings on an 89 Civic SI hatch..
When I pressed out the inner hubs, I noticed that the driveshaft holes in the hubs are different sizes for the passenger side vs. the drivers side. The driveshaft is larger on the passenger side meaning that the drivers side hub will not fit on the passenger side draveshaft and vice-versa
When I look on the honda parts pages, I only see one part number for the front hub assy.
So, are there different part numbers for the drivers side and passengers side front hubs?
Or, is somethiing else going on?
Any ideas??

Sounds like one of them is from an STD or a HF. They were the same other than different hub sizes for the chincy, lighter, axles. Sounds like at some point someone changed that side, and that axle.
Thats what i figured, so the si hubs are different from the hf/std hubs. I bought the car a couple weeks ago and the guy said the axle had been replaced, but the wheel bearings looked like they had never been touched along with the hubs. Could he have just changed that whole knuckle assembly. Thanks in advance. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Yeah it sounds like they changed the whole spindle/knuckle. Si, DX, EX, are all the same, and the HF STD was different hub, axle combo. Also EXes had bigger brakes.

Thanks for all the info CRXbart. I have one more question will I be able to use the si hubs in the std knuckle or will i have to replace that as well. I know the axle will have to be replaced to use the si hubs.

Ok, Clicked on STD and the following came up:
44300-SB2-961
44300-SB2-963
44300-SB2-966
Clicked on SI and the following came up:
44300-SB2-961
44300-SB2-963

Inconclusive!

hmmm so the part numbers say the hubs are the same for the STD and the SI. My hatch is messed up
is there any other reasons why this could be...
I suppose ill just have to replace that driver side with new hub and bearings and get a new axle

Maybe they superseded the part numbers. I know they did that with B16 LMAs. You have to get ITR now. Honestly, I would just keep them they way they are, untill you need to mess with them. Ain't broke don't fix it.

</TD></TR></TABLE> Well the numbers I came up with were for the wheel bearings, the hubs are obviously different due to their inner spline diameters.

Oh im sorry i thought those number you came up with were for the hub. I guess ill just keep it how it is till it breaks, or I can go ahead and replace all of it. Prevent a headache or just wait for it to arise someday down the line. Regardless thanks to everyone for your help. it is greatly appreciated.
