uhhhh... no.
you gotta take the door panel off which is simple. just unscrew your door handle and grip on the inside, then just pull on the bottom and sides and it'll pop out. then there are probably 5-6 clips that hold the molding in place, as well as 1 screw in the door jamb. pinch the clips and push and it'll pop out.

i actually like moldings...gives the car a line for center so when you lower your car you have something to judge it with.

my personal opinion is that color matching looks much better and cleaner, but it's your car and cater your own tastes.
i color matched my side moldings on my EK. i took off as many parts as i could to paint, but the side moldings required me to remove way too many interior panels.
sooo, i masked them off from the rest of the car with painter's tape and news paper. i guess you could say this is the "ghetto" way of doing it, but mine turned out beautiful and you would not be able to tell the difference.
whatever you decide, do with what works best for what you have in mind

They help keep your doors from being dinged.
Also, user B18C5-EH2 made a how-to writeup on this very topic about three years ago. You can find it if you search for **** made by that user. He was a mod once upon a time, so his posts will still be drifting around in the ether.
