Default block milling/resurfacing

I need to know the max that you can mill or resurface the top of the block? the reason i ask is because mine need resurfacing and i dont want to really mess up the block or CR too much. any info will be appreciated. thank you.

taking 10 to 15 thousandths off the block will not have much of an effect at the most a .2-.3 cmp ratio bump but 10 thou should be more than enough to flatten out a block. u might not even need that much depends on how bad it is

even .005" should clean up your block but then again youll have to check for straightness anyway...you can also clean up your head for the same amount and recover the material into the headgasket so your timing doesn't mess up...my .02 cents

.005 usually cleans them up. I have taken off more than .090, that works also.
