Cooling Fan Cycle
I was tweaking on my car this weekend, cleaned up the intake mani, etc.
When I re-connected the battery and set the idle, the car ran fine. But I noticed that the fans were cycling different than before. Now, the electric fan comes on whenever I move the key from the 'ignition' position to the 'off' position. My temp gauge is staying right near 1/4, antifreeze and hoses are good. When the key is moved to 'off' the fan comes on and seems to run for about five minutes, then shuts off. I had the car sitting for a while with the key in 'ignition' just listening to the radio, it had been off for at least an hour, engine was cold for sure, then I took the keys out and the cooling fan kicked on. Can anyone tell me if this is the standard cycle, or is something out of whack?

Honda used at least 4 different control schemes for the fans over the years. I think there might be at least one year where there's a simple timer (without a 2nd fan switch) that runs the fans after shutoff regardless of temperature.

There's a fan switch there in the hose nozzle - that one's responsible for switching the fan after shutoff. Unplug the wire & try it again. I bet it doesn't run... If that's true, then you need a new switch.
