Default Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212 -VS- Falken Azenis RT-615?

I'm in the market for a set of new tires for my 15" Rays Gram Lights 57C. I've been searching on HT and found nothing on the Hankook R_S2. I know the RT-615 is a nice tire but how about the Hankook? Which tire would you recommend? Any help would be appreciated...Thanks

The Azenis has significantly better traction on dry pavement. (Not just my opinion, but also that of Grassroots Motorsports.) The Z212 is a bit better in rain - not as good as most other summer tires, just not quite as bad as the Azenis. Both wear very rapidly and they are priced about the same.

If you care only about dry traction, get the Azenis. If you also care about wet traction and/or treadlife, you probably want to get some tire other than either of these two.

I assume this is for your '89 Civic Si, so you are looking for tires in size 195/50-15.

For a tire that offers outstanding traction on dry pavement and on wet pavement, and lasts a reasonably long time, I recommend the Goodyear F1 GS-D3. $93/tire at the Tire Rack.

If you want to pay less than that, and you are willing to accept a lower level of performance, you can get tires like the Yokohama ES100 ($52), which is good for the money, with good traction. But since you're asking about the Azenis, you probably care enough about performance that you're better off spending more for the better performance of the Goodyear.

The Toyo RA-1 is an R compound track tire. Since this topic is asking about street tires, I assume they're looking for street tire suggestions.

They are still not good street tires even if they come in different compounds. You will never warm an R-Compound tire up enough on the street to fully utilize its performance and in return you are running a tire that performs poorly in the rain and no better than a Max Performance tire in the dry all the while lasting ~5,000 miles. Seems like a no brainer to me, running R-Compounds on the street isn't smart.
