Default Getting CV joint off

I need to figure out how to get my CV joint off on the front driver side. It came apart while trying to put on my new coilovers (slipped out of place) and I can't seem to figure out how to either A: get it off, or find a way to put it back into whatever socket it goes in. I'm a noob, so please forgive me if something I've said doesn't make sense, or I'm not using the right terminlogy

are you talking about the tip of the axle or the actual cv joint (it's inside the boot). One end of the axle goes into the intermediate shaft, and the other end of the axle has a ?32mm? nut on it and goes into the hole in the hub.

If your actual cv joint came apart then I'm pretty sure you'll have to pull the axle out and put it back together. Also, what happened to the boot that the joint could just fall off?
