Default 96 lx hard to start, and best place to buy factory parts

Hey guys,

The chicks 96 lx with 110k miles is hard to start when warm or cold. It takes many cranks for it to fire. The entire ignition looks great, plugs great, etc. Thanks for any ideas here.

In other news: need a timing belt/tensioner. Best place to buy factory parts online? Thanks!

Thanks for the options,

Ian

when my hondas almost emoty it does start harder. I have not done my fuel filter yet, it may be a slight cause.

A tune up should help your problems, check the cap androtor, check the plugs, also change wires

Yeah all that stuff is in good shape: I'm wondering if the fuel pumps go bad. Anyone?

It sounds like its dry cranking: spark is there.

THanks again for your help,

Ian

I've been having the same problem with my 97 LX periodically, and I think it's the fuel pump. I find if I turn the key to the "on" position and listen for the fuel pump to fully start up, and put my foot on the gas just a little, then turn it over the car starts just fine. Not sure how much longer the fuel pump can hold on like this, but I've been doing this for months now and the problem hasn't worsened any.

Thanks for the response. I'll look into how big a deal it is to replace the fuel pump.
