How to remove pistons/rods?

Default How to remove pistons/rods?

Is there a write up some where on how to remove the pistons and rods? I tried searching on the helms but I just have the pdf and couldn't find it. It's a on a B16 if it matters..

Remove the head, remove the oil pan, remove the crankshaft, tap out with the haft of a mallet.

i can't seem to get the rod caps off. is there some sort of trick?

Put the nut 2 threads on and tap it with a hammer. If you have bolts put 2 threads on and tap with hammer.

trick to main caps is a rubber mallet, you want the piston that is being removed at bdc, then work the main back and forth then hit the rod directley to get the piston out of the way and rotzate to the next cap


what you are prolly doing is having the main being pulled or yannked by the crank, eaisest spot to remove by far is bdc, it is fine to rotate with less than 4 pistons locked in

well the motor is siezed so that's why i think i cant crank it more than like half a turn each way.

what do u mean seized, hydro locked or just stuck, ivegotten motors out the same way that were rusted thick, just work on it and kep going, upgrade to wood and a metal hamer if its not working

nvm i got it out. crank spins all the way now, but still cant get the damn crank pulley nut off

snap-on 300ft lb electric impact (my friends took it off no prob when my compressor/impact couldnt do it)
