Default Squealing noise from driver side wheel

I just fixed a wierd squealing noise that was coming from my driver side wheel. Now I know the first thing anyone would say is it's the brake pads worn out BUT, what was odd is, the noise ONLY was there when I made right turns! So it made me think it was something else BUT upon inspection, I found the metal tab that lets you know when the brake pads are worn was SLIGHTLY touching the brake rotor - so I broke it off and now the noise is gone!

Funny thing is that the brake pads still has about one third of an inch left on it ... maybe EBC wants me to buy brakes more sooner ??

Anyways guys, thats my 2c and hopes this helps someone out in the future...

I had the same problem with my car. I couldn't figure out what the hell it was as my pads had plenty of life left in them. That stupid clip broke and was touching sometimes creating the intermittent squealing noise.

I simply took it out and filed down the edge and re-shaped it so it'll still squeal when the brakes are lower but it's okay for now. I'll buy new ones when I change pads.

Replace your pads, dingbat. The squealer is there for a reason - to indicate when the inside pad of a floating caliper (which wears faster than the outside pad) is running low on friction material mass (typically 2/32" or less for disc pads).

Do you run your tires down to the cords too? There's still plenty of rubber left once the tread is gone

I never thought someone could be so daft.

I do plan on replacing them dingbat but only in a few weeks since I do not drive the car to work during the week - just on the weekends = less pad wear than a daily driver so I would say I am okay for a few weeks.

It's daft to assume things before getting a full insight of the situation

You created a thread to tell all the world that breaking off your squealer when it starts making noise is perfectly fine, and didn't even touch on any potential consequences. Don't try to wiggle your way out of this one, because we've already seen your retarded post.

LOL, it's funny now that I look over all the posts - I just do not appreciate being called names when I was tryin to post how I solved my problem so maybe someone else would find it helpful...

Oh well - I rest my case and have nothing more to say about this post but I am not deleting anything because it's how I felt at the time of seeing the other poster.

Look at ANY of my other posts and you will see I have never insulted anyone or called anyone names so I do not appreciate it either.

End of my story.
