Default Valve Cover Bolts...

I managed to snap one when I overtighted a nut... Will this present a problem (oil leak) until I can source a new one? Thus far I have struck out with every honda/acura dealership that I have called trying to get the part.

Depending on which one, yes, it will probably leak. However, it should be a very small leak so you won't lose enough oil that you can't add more until you get the correct part. I had the damn spark plug seals leaking on my old Integra but it was so slow I just adding oil every once and a while.

I did the same thing a while back, yes there was a leak, but it was very small. I just went to honda and got a bolt for a 99-00 SI for like $3.
Then went to the junk yard and stripped them off of 2 days. Now I have extra's for when I snap another one.

Thanks for the help guys! Just like the crank pulley bolt that I am looking for, no dealerships seem to have the valve cover studs in stock... I'll order a few online.

Try looking up parts from a CRV that came with the b20,
Unless the dealers just can't get valve cover studs for some reason.

I was trying the B16 too... they can get them, they just don't seem to stock them.

I recently did this, I ordered them on-line at

http://www.acuraoemparts.com/d...np=25

lmk if the link works...but it's a pita because if you put the valve cover back on and run it, when you get the bolt you have to remove it again and need a new vc gasket.

VC gaskets are reusable, they only need changing when age deteriorates the rubber.

order the bolt from the dealer its not that expensive. i had my share of snapped of valve cover bolts in the past.

i dont have a torque wrench so this how i end up doing it now. i always handtighten it w/ a deep socket and give like a 1/4 to 3/4 a turn w/ the socket wrench after that.

I was always under the impression they are not re-usable. I tried it with mine with sealer and it was still leaking...all bolts and caps were torqued to factory specs and vc gasket was just bought a few days prior. I just play it safe anyways...only 15 bucks rather the hastle.

Once the gaskets start to leak then replace. I have taken my valve cover off many times and reused it with no problems. but I do have a new spare laying around for the day I notice any freaky ****.
