i'm taking it that the rims are 16"? how low is your car?

215/45-16 or 205/45-16 are the correct sizes for a 16" wheel on your car. 205/45-15 would obviously provide a bit more clearance due to the narrower tread.

Why? No tires made in 215mm width with Civic-compatible diameters are any good compound-wise. Any 215 street tire for a 16" wheel on a Civic will be outhandled by a 205/40-16 Azenis RT-615.
16" is the worst wheel diameter for performance street tire selection - hence the reason I run 15x7s with 225/45-15 RS2s.

Yes, otherwise you're going to be cutting fenders . . .
There is still only one 225/45 street tire for 15" wheels though (Hankook RS2), and it is matched (some argue slightly surpassed) in performance by the 205/50 Azenis RT-615.
It's not the width, it's the compound, construction, and tread design that's important. Width comes fourth after those.
