used 01 vs uesd 02
I'm looking at a few low mileage 01s & 02s and aside from the glass window on the 02 am interested in knowing if there any reasons (such as reliability) to go with an 02 over an 01. Also have read of reports of the S200 not handeling well in the rain? Perhaps this is due to poor tires on that owners car...seems like with decent tires it should be fine. Your input is much appreciated...THANKS.
Tires are only a factor in the rain if you're driving bald or close to it. In more cases, its driver error. Traction control cannot make up even for that.
I agree -- being a former S2k owner, as long as you don't drive the car like a tool in the rain, you'll be fine, even on worn rear tires (which I drove around in for a while).

Very true...driving around on bald tires in even fwd or awd can have horrible results.

Also...if you get a later build 02, it has the upgraded oil banjo bolts. To find out if the 02 you're looking at has the upgraded bolts you'll need to look for the engine code...not the VIN. Stand in front of the bumper, the code will be on the right side, closest to the front and marked "f20c1" with a bunch of numbers, if the last four of those numbers are greater than "5385" you have the new bolts. There have been some who had the new ones with less of a number than that from the factory, but if you have a number greater than 5385 youll have the new ones.

I FOUND OUT FROM SOME ACURA TECHS THAT THE 2001 S2000 ACTUALLY HAS MORE OF A RACE INSPIRED SUSPENTION AS APPOSED TO THE 02 WHEN THE HAD TO DIAL IT DOWN A BIT BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LOSING TRACTION A LITTLE TO OFTEN. BUT I OWN A 01 AND I LOVE THE WAY IT DRIVES BUT IF YOU LIVE IN A AREA WHERE THERE IS A LOT OF TREE COVER THEN YOU WILL SLIDE AROUND A BIT, BUT GET GOOD TIRES AND YOU SHOULD BE FINE. GOOD LUCK AND I SAY GO WITH THE 01 ITS ALOT OF FUN! RELIABILITY WISE I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER.
