Default Water in trunk

Just wondering if anyone has this same issue. Whenever it rains i am getting water in my spare tire area....this only happens if there is enough water on the street to splash in the wheel wells and under carriage as u drive. I have changed the tail light gaskets and still have this problem, any help would be appreciated as this is driving me nuts. Its a 2000 type R and has never been wrecked...could they have missed putting seam sealer at the factory?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Same problem here. I never figured out where it was coming from. I drilled a hole where it puddled so I wouldn't have it rotting back there.

Remove the hatch side panels and see if the drain tubes are still intact.

Could very well be the problem.

We had this problem with the GS-R (water puddling around the spare tire). When we replaced the taillight assembly, which was leaking (we could see water on the inside of the lens), it cured the problem.

if you can see water on the inside of the tail light, what all do you have to replace? The whole tail light

Drilling a hole will only drain the water out of the taillights. It won't fix the problem if you are getting water in the trunk.

The rear seats don't get wet (at least, they didn't in our case). The water drained down from the taillights into the spare tire area.

Have someone sit in the hatch and then run the hose over it. See if they can determine where it's coming in and trace it back to the origin from there.

FWIW, I've had 2 integra hatch seals leak on me. IIRC $130 fixed that.

I've heard the antenna area can also be a source.

the gas filler neck was the main source of my leak. It was letitng in alot of water.

Somehow the spot welds had seperated at the bottom and it would pour in there from the spray off the road.

I just pulled the wheel off and put some silicone in the gap and no leaks since then.

Other possible causes are missing plugs on the rear wall, loose hatch mount bolts (would casue water in or under the rear seat), holes in undercarriage. I ended up sititngin the hatch area with the rear seat and all rear pannels out while it rained. Then i had a friend spray down the undercarrige from every possible angle while i sat in the hatch and i eventually found all of my leaks. You will be surprized just how much water a small hole will let in. Good luck it took me a long time to finally pinpoint where my leaks were coming from.

I have the same problem and I have sat in the back of the car and had my buddy run water over the back. Found out that the water was entering where the plastic "studs" for the tail lights go through the back wall of the car. Not the ones that are bolted down but the other ones. In my case, it was the passenger side plastic "stud" closest to the trunk latch. I have yet to fix the problem but I figure I could just used some waterproof silicone to **** around where the stud enters the trunk wall.

check to make sure all rubber plugs in trunks floor are in place. theres also a plug behind the rear bumper that seals the wiring for the license plate bulbs.

Definitely get them fixed before this happened. I nevered noticed the water in the trunk until so much had accumulated that whenever I stopped the water in the trunk would splash into the back seats. Whenever I had a rear passenger, they would sit down and the water would make the seats so damp everyone who sat back there got their pants all wet.
