A6 head or SOHC VTEC head?
obd1 is more tunable than obd0 but you can always use a obd1 dizzy in the a6 head! It just depends if you want that MADDDDD V-TAK CRACK! J/K but serious too!

haha...love honda tech, i have a rebuilt stock a6 head now and i think the valves have been seated or whatever because my timing belt tensioner bearing siezed and im thinking about getting some springs and retainers and putting in SOHC ZC cam in there for a little more lift and maybe some mild porting and polishing but im not sure if i want to put that much money into it yet. Im using this motor as a daily driver, autocross and light road racing
well, this thread was more oa on board diagnostic question with the different heads, i posted the other thread before i knew about obd being an issue. I just should have just changed the title of this thread i didnt think it was that important... well now i know whats really important...
get on d-series.org. The sohc vtec engines were designed more for efficiency than power, Its only vtec on the intake side.... And, please remember that vtec doesn't make power, its not magic... power comes from flow, compression ratio, cam profiles. Stock vs. stock the vtec heads does all this better. But the meanest all motor d's are non-vtec... D16a6's or D16y7's. As far as vtec on turbo d's, its not bad, but I don't see it as a big benifit either. Take two of the same turbo kit, one on a sohc vtec motor, the other on a non-vtec sohc, both having a good tune they would make nearly identical power (other than one having a vtec hickup). You also have a lot more options for cams with a non-vtec... cheaper cams too. So if it was me: If I was going sohc turbo D, I'd stay non-vtec. If I was building an all motor D, I'd stay non-vtec. If I was just going to leave it a stock engine and drive it, I'd do a sohc vtec
