well it actually isnt but its about to be...my car will not start...i know...search button right??? wrong...it turns over...its getting gas...the relay is working properly and so if the fuel pump...i replaced fuel filter...i cannot check for spark since i dont have tools handy and there is a stupid cover over the plugs...but i can tell you that it sounds like it wants to starts when first cranking in between starts but it just wont start...now i heard something like a timing belt issue since my car died while driving it but it the timing belt breaks doesnt it make like a clunk noise and all the valves are bent? i dont know what my next move is...i would like some help please....

the next move would be to pull the valve cover and check to see if your timing belt is broken.. if it isn't, check for spark..the "ghetto" way i was told is to place something metal into a spark plug wire and touch the other end to a ground..dunno if this is the safest way..!

an easy way to check for spark is to shove a screw driver in the spark plug wire lay it across the valve cover and have a friend turn it over... look for spark

have you even touched the ignition system?

its 3 things to work not just the 2 your checked.

Fuel + Crank + Spark

pull out one of your spark plug cables and then put a sparkplug on it put it somewhere safe where you can monitor it. have someone crank the engine consistently for like 15 seconds. check for a spark.

its usually the simpler things and not the more complicated things like bad timming or massive loss of compression.

one thing that makes me iffy though is that you say you crank it and now and then it acts like it wants to start? that sounds like a fuel problem to me.... are you sure your fuel pump works? how do you know it works?

if your car died while you were driving, check your distributor. that happened to me once.
