HELP PLEASE: ECU code 8 and 16
Car: 91' Civic dx 4dr
Hey guys my grandpa's car is shooting out a code 8 and 16. I know the code 8 is TDC sensor which is located in the distributor and the only way to fix that is to replace the whole unit. Go figure.
But my real question is, does the code 16, fuel injector, play any role due to the code 8? Or is it an individual problem...? The car runs, but slightly jerky due to the distrib being ****. So, any suggestions?
I'm hoping that the code 16 is being thrown because of the distrib. Any input would be much appreciated.

16 is an electrical problem in the injector circuits. Causes can be wiring, or as I believe in your case, the main relay. The solder joints develope hairline fractures that open with temperature expansion or mechanical vibration. The jerky operation because of the TDC malfunction could be rattling the relay and tripping the code 16. You can either resolder the connection on the main relay's circuit board or replace it.
Interesting, I didn't know the main relay played a role with the fuel injection system. Thought it just cut the fuel pump. I see, well I'll be sure to keep that in mind when I get the new dizzy today. I'll keep you informed. Thanks a bunch.
When the ignition is first turned to "run", the main relay enrgizes to power the fuel pump and injector circuits for about the time the CEL lights up (about 2 seconds). It is re-energized when the ECU sees a signal from the distributor that the engine is turning.
