front brake upgrades
i have an 89 civic cx and i'm wondering what options i have when upgrading my front binders?
i'm not looking for anything too big or expensive. but of course, any input is appreciated.

civic ex brakes are 10.3" instead of 9.5" if you can find one at the junkyard.

Don't go with stock EX brakes. I have Euro CRX SiR with EX knuckles and 242mm rotors stock and can tell you they are a piece of ****. 200$ is waste of money, get fastbrakes or AEM or at least Accord Wagon calipers+Prelude discs.
I had teg fronts on my 88 CRX si and they sucked. I just put 90 ex spindels on with 92 to 96 prelude vtec sloted roters accord wagon calipers and stock pads right now. My car stops hard a crap. Oh yeah almost forgot the rear disk, integra brake boster, master cilender and porpotioning valve. It is wonderful. I think the hole thing cost me around 350$$.

you only use rears really when you do e-brake slides
but yeah rears sont do much o0n a front wheel drive car inless you drive backwards.
Weight transfers to front when you brake, thats the direction of travel, thats where weight is,

I had a totally different experience with mine. I've had the car since 1994 and I've never been able to keep a set of rotors on it without warping them in literally about a week. I've had a car that shudders when I hit the brakes for years. My car always felt really underbraked. I added the EX fronts, put on a new set of $17 napa rotors to hold me over until I could get some powerslots, and they still aren't warped. The car stops so hard that I literally feel like I'm going to spin it on if I brake from high speeds. It feels like its going to endo (not really)!
As for the rear disc... I think the made the pedal feel firmer because the adjust better than the drums so called 'auto adjust'. When I would drive my girl friends 91 Si and then mine, my car felt better, but it wasn't out of this world or anything. On average, braking should be about 70/30 (f/r) percentage wise if I'm not mistaken.

11" front integra brake kit...it's affordable for the adaptor kit $119 and all you need to get is stock teg calipers and rotors
i beg to differ on the rear discs being useless...in straight line braking they don't help much b/c of the offset of weight...rear discs weigh more than rear drums...however if you road race and want to change the braking proportions in order to help shave off some time it's much easier with discs...and for the ricers rear discs look better than drums or the fake discs
