Default newb question

As of now. i have a stock civic hatch and i want to put an intake on it, but the throttle body/ manifold w/e that thing is called, opens upward. and the pipping for the intake has to go upward and curl back down. i was wondering if i could take a d16y8 manifold from and put it on a d16y7. im wondering if it would fit. thanks.

In all honesty there is no point to buying a different manifold it would be a waste of money and time. AEM, Iceman, K&N ETC should have a CAI OR short ram that will fit your need where ic does a 90 degree downward bend to attach to the stock manifold. Just look around i saw some bar approved intakes on ebay that werent cheapies for the D16Y7 as well. If you cant find anything than you could also go to a muffler shop and have them make you a 90 degree bend thats wwhat i did and used an EX/SI intake. Or just go to Home Depot and get flex tubing to make the bend.

Save the money for a swap or boost/nitrous. You're going to waste money on parts that will add close to no power.

But to answer your question, yes you can swap for a y8 IM/TB.

you can change it and go through all the work, but u can also just get a short ram or even cold air off ebay for cheap... and works just fine...

I guess the ultimate question is what are your plans for your car? Are you looking for a mild performance upgrade by using some bolt ons because the amount of hp you'll probably get out of any intake kit won't really be felt on the "butt dyno". Im in no way saying not to do what you want, but it often helps, and saves money, having a plan on what you want to do with your car.ie turbo, swaps, etc.

Even with every possible bolt-on and mod (excluding internals), you're still gonna have a puny, torque-less, weak, D-Series SOHC. Hell I guess even with a re-built D with full internals and the works, it still won't feel that great.

Boost it or swap it for a better motor.
