Starter signal(Yes i searched)
Ok, so im driving my car today, and i park it for a couple minutes to run into the local parts store. When i come out, my car wont start. Fuel primes, everything works, but the starter doesnt crank. It doesnt even click. I push started the car to get it home and that was fine. I jumped the small blade connector on the starter to the + on the battery, and the starter turns. But when i hook up the factory signal wire, it does nothing. I already checked the 7.5amp starter signal fuse underdash and its still good.
Heeelp please, i dont wanna have to pop the hood and hotwire my starter everytime

check the switch with a test light.. make sure you are getting power to the signal wire are the ignition key switch... let us know what you come up with.

get someone in the car and try and start it while u tap the starter with a hammer.... there may be an intermittent short with the starter. Get someone to try and start the car... nothing? then hit the starter while they are trying to turn the key.
i tried hitting it already. I dont think its the starter itself, because as soon as i make a connection between the signal pin on the starter and the + on the battery it starts up everytime
I would then refer to a wiring diagram and check from the ignition switch, clutch safety, and other things to find your issue. i don't know if you are electrically inclided, but if you get a diagram i will be more then willing to help with the diag.
there is a starter replay under the dash.. check it out... also.. i think the horn or some other replay is the same part numbers.. and is right next to it.. (under dash.. on side of fuse box.)... look around for diagrams and looks there..
i ran a power wire from the igniton switch harnes... and by passed the fuse panel for the starter signal wire.... you can do the same... and it will fire on the key.
it a black -8 gage wire... i think... with a yellow stripe.. there are 2 of them.. one send 12v when you turn the key to start..

I figured it out. The car completely died the other day and me and my buddy figured it out on the side of the road. It rained here the other day, and the water ran down under my hood(because of hood tilt) across my battery, and dripped onto my main ground. Which then rusted it, and it didnt ground anymore. Its all fixed now, thanks for the help guys.
