Default 93 Prelude Noob Literally

Hey everyone I'm new to the whole prelude scene. Im trading an Eclipse GST for a 93 prelude that has some mods done to it. I honestly don't know a whole lot about these cars except that there reliable. I can tell yall some of the mods that I was told. F23 JDM engine, JDM front clip, 17 inch R1 draglite demo racing rims, carbon fiber hood, custom paint, brake upgrades. I know alot about eclipses but had to get rid of mine because I just couldn't afford the repairs on it anymore now that im in school. If theres anything I need to know about these cars like what kind of motor I exactly have, known problems with motors, electrical problems ect. Any knowledge would help alot.

Well, no Preludes came with an F23 stock. So somebody swapped one in there, which doesn't seem like a good idea because it's not a very strong engine...power wise. Can you post a pic of the engine bay?

If everything was done right, you won't have any problems....but it all depends on the ric......uh guy who had the car before you.

Reading and searching will do you a lot of good on this forum because there's tons of info already posted.

You know, some people sleep while others work or go to school. If you expect a million answers in a span of less than 2 hours you're just not right.

Maybe you got an H23 in that car? Check the stamping on the right side of the cylinder head to find out.

Thanks guys I appreciate it. The guy im getting it from said the motor has 30k on it and its never been raced or been in the shop. Of course I know you cant be too trustworthy with people now days but I guess im going to find out if he was telling the truth when I go get it. Looking forward to driving a Honda knowing that their alot more reliable and their not to bad looking.

they like to rust in the corner panels over your rear wheels. (underspray and pay a bit for a decent paint job to avoid annoying blemishes). Calipers like to sieze ( I find that calipers are servicable though rather than replacing) They like to burn oil so get valve adjustments and oil changes regularly (as well as other servicing). Use the proper gas for your engine too. Electrically, hondas i find are spectacular. very few bugs at all in my experience. Overall a prelude is the sheit. id stick with 4th generation than 5th though.

You nub, I found your username trying to find some local guys to buy a stock exhaust from, I didn't know you already signed up. 93PreludeF23 is a friend of mine Brandon who desperately needed to get rid of that GS-T piece.

Nick, I totally told you that it was the wrong motor (I'm still a noob myself). Its actually an Accord SOHC VTEC motor found in, I believe, the 98-02 models. Someone corrrect me if I'm wrong. But they're a dime a dozen at junk yards... possibly why the previous owner swapped it in. Here are some pictures of it:

Sweet vanity plates hansel.

With a little bit of work it could be nice.

I lol'ed at the "I can't afford the repairs" line because it's true, no matter how many DSM'ers deny it.

It was a good trade. Also the guy told me it was an F23 motor and it happens to be a F22a.. Can you guys give me any info on the motor because i dont know much about it.

The guy told me it came off and accord type R. Weather thats true or not im not sure..

The F22a is a great engine, mine has 250,000 miles on it and its still running like a champ, had to replace the head gasket at 220,000 though.
