Default I'M ABOUT TO THROW IN THE TOWEL!

Ok I've been trying to get my civic running good. I swapped a D15b Vtec and the damn thing pulls like its a d15 non vtec.

1) Car pulls really sluggish like its not getting enough air to fuel
2) Vtec does'nt engage at all. I once got it to engage and I could feel a huge kick(no lie)
3) Car backfires badly

1992 Civic Si D16z6 ecu with D15b Vtec motor

I have replaced the entire vtec solenoid. I have replaced the PCV valve. I have put in fuel injection cleaner. Oil is topped off.

NOTHING GIVES! NOTHING!

I'm begging for help here. I love my car and I hate that I cant get the motor running strong. I have put blood and sweat into this car.

Any help would be much much appreciated. Anyone who actually helps, I will have my g/f make you a batch of her AWESOME AWESOME caramel and nut BROWNIES!

Yes we checked my timing and it was dead on.

95hatchcivic. What exactly are you saying? You want my D16z6 ecu for your blown D15bVtec ecu? I don't get it.

Well I think so. I have the ecu from a D16z6 ecu. How can I check what ecu I have? I'll go check right now.

if it is a p28 then check your injector plugs, reset the ecu, check the plugs on the solenoid you might have mixed the 2

check spark plugs, you have alot of things to check, first thing MAKE SURE THE TAG ON YOUR ECU LOOKS LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

XXXXXX-p28-xxxxxxx

Where is the ecu actually at? I can't believe I'm asking this question. For some reason I thought it was the fuse box. wow.

Take 95hatchcivic up on his offer, or get the correct ECU from another source.

I don't think he's saying his ECU blew, he's saying he blew his engine, so he's got a working ECU for you just lying around that will work in your application, and probably needs a P28 for his new project. Hence the swap makes sense for the two of you.

Of course I don't know 95hatchcivic any better than you do, I'm always leery of taking random internet people up on offers... but sometimes you get lucky.

Why are we arguing over the ecu, The p28 is fine for the d15bvtec, sure the p08 is better but they are too similar, Fuel maps are the only slight difference. Ive been running a p28 on a d15bvtec for over a year now.

You're not getting any ecu codes for distributor?

I'm not getting any codes now. I had a IAT code and oil pressure sensor code.

I cleaned the IAT and replaced the vtec solenoid and the codes cleared out.

We checked the timing with a timing gun.

i am running a p28 with my d15b, and its just fine. Your ecu doesnt sound like the problem. Your timing might be off, and have you checked to see that its firing on all cylinders? check plugs and wires. Does the exhaust sound funny?

Check your ignition components. You might want to change your fuel filter too. I didn't know you could run a d15 with a p28.

its the JDM d15b SOHC VTEC motor. Its basically the same as our d16z6, just upped comp. a little bit I believe.
