Default VTEC crossover and turbocharged cars?

I know how to set VTEC on the dyno, but unfortunately I live in the sticks and don't have easy access to a dyno in order to tune my car. So I street tune all my cars. Before this I was an all motor guy and had a pretty good idea of when to set the VTEC crossover point based on what displacement/cams/head I had etc.

Well now I am boosted and I'm not quite sure where to set my VTEC at. It's a JDM b16 with CTR cams. Right now I have it at 5,000rpm but I was reading on evan's forums and jeff evans said that he usually sets vtec at around 4800 on a b series.

So is there any thoughts on this? Maybe setting it lower will help spool the turbo?

what's your setup?? If we knew more about it, we could possibly figure out when the best crossover point for you...on my first setup, my VTEC crossover point was about when i hit about 2psi (44-4500rpm)

If you cams are at stock time I would say 4800 is a dam good spot.

from my experience, smaller turbos need VTEC set a little higher, like in the 5-5.5K's. All the decent size turbo cars i've tuned, i needed to set VTEC anywhere from 4500 to 4800 rpms. Stock Bore B16's w/ stock/gsr/or ITR cams seem to like vtec around 5.1K. every setup is different. get on a dyno!

if you tune your car on the street take a look at the fuel maps. the small lob cam will flatline try to over lay your small cam over the vtec cam and find the dip where you stop making power or flatlines. b16a turbo on the dyno after plotting the torque curve was at 5200rpm. When I tune on the street and go to the dyno im off by a couple hundred rpm.

just set it so that its smooth coming in, if you can feel it its not right.

if it lags, then vtec comes in, its too high,

if vtec hits and then it lags its too low
