help hids?
hey guys i bought my car from someone and all ikno is that the HID's on my civic is from an acura TL. I made a mistake and didnt ask him what yr it was. How can i tell what yr it is to get the right bulbs. Also i want to get a purplish bulb. Do i get this from the dealer?thanx
They're standard HID capsules. Depending upon the year, they are either D2R or D2S. Just pull them out and note whether or not they have a band of coating on the glass (if they do, they're D2R). Either way, please avoid "purplish" bulbs.

x2, purple'ish bulbs will bother other drivers and provide much less light. If you have to be differen't with the light don't go any higher than 6-8k kelvin.

No, they don't. As I stated, it depends upon what year the TL was. They're either D2R or D2S, and it's not hard to tell the difference by looking at them (they should be marked, too).
Either way, it's a moot point. If the car has projectors (which I hope it does), the capsules should be D2S. If they're somehow adapted to the stock halogen reflectors, they shouldn't really be used at all, but a D2R would be the better option.

anyone who wants purp hids have no idea about lighting. purple color from hids only comes thru at temperatures in excess of 10000k. the higher the k the less actual light produced. purple hids will effect other drives less than normal hids due to the actual light produced but it will attract the attention of the police. anything past 6500k is illegal, becoming " too blue " 8000k being blue and anything past that becoming more red hence purple being made. it is a waste of money to get headlights that produce less light.
