My 96 Civic's Speedometer and Odometer stopped working. Would the VSS be causing this or is my cluster broken? I'm not getting any CEL. Any help would be nice.

 

Any prob's with the battery not charging? I was not able to fix it so a shop had to but on my 98 there was some wire that came loose that caused that prob. I wish i could give you more details but the honda shop that fixed it said it was a fairly typical prob.....maybe someone else can expound on this.

 

how much did the honda shop charge you?

 

i think it was about 150ish, somewhere around 2 hours labor and diagonistic...

When my speedo and odo quit workin in my EJ1, it was the cluster. Pitched the EX cluster and put a 4-Door LX cluster in and it worked just fine. I knew it was cluster cause before it quit working entirely it would bounce, or randomly go out and come back on and sometimes I would whack the dash real good when it was out and it'd start workin.
