I'm not sure. Check your VIN number to be sure.

The canadian EX is an EJ6 as well but not the USDM. That's where EJ8 comes in.

Check the big sticky in appearance cosmetic. It's linked in my sig.

That will tell you ALL the Honda automotive chassis codes.

96-00 2DR DX = EJ6 (SOHC non-VTEC)
96-00 2DR EX = EJ8 (SOHC non-VTEC)
96-00 2DR HX = EJ7 (SOHC VTEC-E)
99-00 2DR Si = EM1 (DOHC VTEC)
96-00 3DR CX = EJ6 (SOHC non-VTEC)
96-00 3DR DX = EJ6 (SOHC non-VTEC)
96-00 4DR DX = EJ6 (SOHC non-VTEC)
96-00 4DR EX = EJ8 (SOHC VTEC)
98-00 4DR GX = EN1 (SOHC VTEC natural gas)
96-00 4DR LX = EJ6 (SOHC non-VTEC)

Notice all the SOHC non-VTECs have one code, all the SOHC VTECs have another code, and so on.

That doesn't tell me what trim it is, therefor I can only GUESS it's an EX coupe or sedan or Si hatch, meaning it has a D16Z6, which has SOHC VTEC.

It says the engine code on the block.

It says the chassis code in the VIN (4-6).

No matter what the engine the car has, its chassis code does not change. Check the VIN. Digits 4, 5 and 6 are the chassis code.
