Default Flakes in the oil pan, rattle noise at certain RPM

As the topic states. I've noticed more rattle than before and I had to take the pan down anyway. Seal was leaky and the drain plug had been replaced with a universal unit.
Anyway after a day of letting the oil drain away, I discovered gold!! It's in the bottom of my pan. So I'm not thrilled, I put this D15B in to rectify this problem last May.
Anyone with experience can chip in. . .
but should I just swap blocks/motors, or should I replace the bearings while the motor is still in teh car? I ahve access to lifts and machine shop stuff but I've never done any bearing work so I'm hesitant do to it . . . some one give me some confidence!!!
Word.

you gotta check the clearance and use proper care when doing work on such delicate engine parts. You are better off swapping the whole thing, lot less trouble down the road.

a swap sounds the most efficient way imo...cuz if you go and fix the bearings and its something else, then it just becomes a pain the ***

if you keep running it your crank will be out of round and no good. You will need a new crank.

Just buy a used bottome end from someone on here or junk yard. hell buy a used motor I think Bense has a long block

Thats quite a distance from me, but I am considering it. Same as the motor that I have in there now. . .

I thought the rattle was something tragic, but I'm now thinking it's my knock-off JDM-Mugen-Ebay oil filler cap. . . the threads are tight but the cap has play . . . and upon tapping the cap it rattles. I'll switch to OEM Honda and see what happens.

Until I hear further noise, I'm going to keep working toward building a spare block but I'm not going to baby the motor that is in the car. It's got an H on the valve cover somewhere.

If there is brass glitter in your pan man, there is no sense in fooling yourself into what it "could" be. It's a bearing. It knocks momentarily on startup and then at a certain RPM only say, 3000-3400.

Just stop now before you wreck the head (valve guides) and other things, pull it and replace it or rebuild the bottom.

<---- learned the hard way several times about knocks and milking them.

Forget about it. Just get something bigger and better. You will come out stronger in the end and it will all be worth it.

Yeah.
I've got the stock D16Z6 out and part way apart. I've never done bearing work so I've got to admit I'm intimidated and hesitant. I need to determine if hte crank in the disassembled D16Z6 is still good or what. Is there a link or anything online somewhere where I can learn how to do this whole thing?

har. I think I washed them down the parts cleaner drain lol.

Any thing wrong with using Mobil 1 synthetic? I used it in the last motor and it started to have bearing problems, and I've used it in this motor since I put it in, but who knows what happened b4 I had it.
