Gutting an EG hatch
Hey. been trying to lighten my EG as much as possible.. I was wondering if you can gut out that extra layer of sheet metal behind the panels..
any help would be appreciated.

It would be a lot easier and a lot safer to just spend a few more bucks in the head to make up in power what you could have lost in weight.
I am all for minor weight reduction but not when it comes to the structural integrity of my car.

Get reid of the sound deadening material if you haven't done that.
Headliner, seats spare tire jack etc. A/c, power steering, windhshield wiper fuild reservoir. interior panels.
That's about all the weight reduction I'd do. Apart from CF hood and trunk.
Anything else and you're just getting goofy. Spend you're time on a tuner or more parts/swap/turbo.

Some nice light-weight rims would help also without gutting the whole car... if you have the cash for them. And how fast do you want to go? There are hatch/coupes running 13's and below on full interior. Money into the engine is the place to go... be fast and comfortable.

Mine has been 12.90's with a full interior minus back seats (lost them) and that was through a 2.1/4 exhaust because I was waiting on my 3 inch muffler to get here.
No need to gut a car to be quick and that was with no bottle or boost.
