225 BFG'S on a 6.5" rim????
Ok, here we go. Right now i am looking to get some BFG drag radials in 205/50/15.
I have 16" circuit 8's on my car right now, and would kinda like to match them with the 15" circuit 8's. The 15" c8's are 6.5 inches wide, and allthough that works fine for the 205's, i'd also like to be able to try the 225's on them at one point when i may need more traction.
Now, tirerack says that the 225's will fit on anything from 6-8 inches.. which is nice, but how does having the smaller width rim affect the contact patch of the 225's?? Will i not get the full contact patch with them???
I kinda already asked this question but didnt get the full answer i wanted .. some guys say that the 225's fit on a 6.5" rim, but i figured the guys here in this forum would know a little more about the contact patch.
SO, im just looking for the verdict... to either go ahead with the 6.5" c8's to match my rear wheels, or forget about matching and go with like a slipstream in 15x7

Get whatever wheels you want.
The size of the contact patch isn't affected by the rim width and tire size. It's only a function of the amount of the weight on that corner of the car and the inflation in the tire.

^^^ that confused me a little bit, but ill take it as you saying that the 225's will be ok on the 6.5" rim and will get all the meat to the floor.
Still going 205's cause the 225's are too tall for my setup i think ..... but just wanted to make sure i had the option to use them with whatever rim i select....
Thanks again!!!
