Default Cleaning/Repairs to Improve Performance/MPG

i got a 97 ex 4dr and ive already cleaned out egr ports and replaced the egr valve. i put on an aem intake and had a a full tune up (dist, plugs, wires, oil filter).

ive checked the accord faq but i was wondering if there are any things i can do to my car to increase its mpg and/or performance. feel free to list tasks that require buying parts as well.

thanks in advance

Fuel filter (kind of tricky to get it out....he he he), but sure helps to have it replaced.

I remember getting really good gas mileage after pouring those "fuel injector cleaner" on every gas tank a week for about a month and a half.... it brought gas mileage back to life!!!

Properly inflated tires, clean air filter, and a good tune up (new plugs if you need them, valve adjustment, etc.).

Also, driving habits are a big one such as getting rid of your lead foot, coasting to a stop, using cruise on the highway(not possible in Chicago with all the stop and go).

Well, i used some "generic" ones at times...and "big brand" ones at other times.
When I first got the car, I used to get 10 to 12 miles per gallon.
1 month and a half later, I was already at 18 and 19 mpg.
After i stopped using the cleaners, kept seeing results (kind of strange though) and after 3 or 4 months owning the car, I was at 22/23 mpg.

Chevron Techron seems to the fuel system and injector cleaner of choice. You've gotten some good replies here and have already attended to the most obvious items. hondapower80 mentioned a valve adjustment. I second that recomendation if you haven't had that done for a while. FWIW, I have had the best results with OEM plug (NGK), cap, rotor, and wires for replacements.

gianinline, 10-12 mpg? holy cow, that's really bad for an accord! And driving habits don't seem to have much effect on MPG for the SOHC accords....a couple mpg at the most. What kind of mileage are you getting OP? I'd say I drive 'somewhat agressively' and I usually get ~30 highway and 27 city.
