Wanted: Parts or Detail Job
I'm looking for a parts counter or detailing position in the Olympia/Lacey area.
I'm *not* just looking to do personal details.
I have experience working the parts counter. I also know how to work the Honda EPC, Autozone EPC (the older version) and Advance Auto Parts EPC.
I have about five years of detailing experience at home and have began working at businesses detailing within the last year and a half. I do all my work by hand and so far haven't learnt how to work with machine.
More info can be given if needed.
I'm leaning towards a preference for a parts counter position again, but I'll take whichever.
If anyone can help me out, can you message me asap? Thanks for any help.
Edit: Here are some examples of details I have done in the past.

As some of you may know, I mostly detail for a hobby and over the last two months was hired (and laid off...) from my first job detailing.
First, one of the first cars I ever detailed. I can't even remember when it was... Probably about three plus years ago or so that I first got to detail this car. My own '98 Honda Civic EX coupe. Milano Red Tricoat. Sorry, no before photos. Well, I have a couple, but they're all badly bleached out and the entire car looks pink (you can find the first thread way way way back in 6th gen btw). In reality only the first couple inches under the windows - about to the pinstripe - was pinkish when I bought it.

I wanted to post an example of a lighter colored vehicle I cleaned up. This is the only one I could find though since I usually forget to take pics. This one's from a few years ago too.

My sister's first almost new car! Her Cayenne Red Pearl '98 Acura Integra GS hatch. She only let me do a quick exterior detail on this one because she wanted to go out and drive it.
Before... This is before she even bought it, but the same day she decided to get it instead of the Sunfire that she had been more interested in before driving.

And after...

I didn't even get to do under the hood.

Okay... now finally for some recent details! Here's a '96 Honda Civic EX coupe I was asked to do for a business. It's Granada Black Pearl which is a black paint with a goldish colored pearl in it. They picked it up for $1000 after the previous owner threw a rod. He told us he was driving through town and it suddenly just stopped...
The before pics.

(We just decided to end up putting an extra set of headlights we had on it instead.)

Apparently the rear deck began to shake (perhaps because of the system that had been installed in it). Erasers jammed between the deck and the rear window was the solution... They melted to the plastic.

And after... Too bad this one had paint damage and etching that I couldn't take care of with the products I had, which are all applied by hand.

And after seeing the Civic, the other owner of the shop these photos were taken in was so happy that he asked me to detail his STi. I kind of find this funny because before the closest I was allowed to get to washing his car was he allowed me to rinse it while he washed it. No befores on this one either, but it was an easy job because the owner is pretty picky about the care of his vehicle. This car is stock World Rally Blue Pearl with an aftermarket black pearl front end.

i got two proffesional buffers if you are interested? as well as pads and compound if you wanna start learning to play with the big boy stuff?
Too bad you arent on the eastside, i know a few places where you could work as far as detailing goes. But your best bet as far as a job try local autobody shops.

Well, I'd need to know how to use a buffer to work in an autobody shop.
I don't have anything to practice on here either, so that idea is out the window.
*Bump* for anymore help.

The issues:
1.
I can't say I love to deal with customers. I can deal with customers, yes, that's fine, but you always have the people who think your product is too much. Say you go into Honda to order a part. It comes out being more than you thought and more than you're willing to pay. Okay, so what's your solution then? Go to Shuck's or Autozone and get it for cheaper, right? Easy. This is how it goes with people looking to get their cars detailed with me though... Guy calls me or comes up to me and asks about gettign his car detailed. If it's there, great, seeing it in person lets me know what I'm dealing with so I can be prepared and I can give a reasonable and realistic estimate on what I can do for the car and the customer. Calls and messages online are worse though. I can't see the car. At best I see a few crappy or glamour shots of the car. I can't eye it for scratches and imperfections. The guy's car is black. Can't say it's my favorite color to take care of (it takes a little more work to finish up), but I can handle it. The customer might tell me they have scratches. Of course they do, nearly all cars 2+ years old have those swirl marks we're all used to. Hand detailing won't get rid of them, but I might be able to hide them. I don't do paint repair afterall.
So the customer has heard my estimate on a car I haven't even seen in person yet. He asks me, "Well, how much will it cost if it doesn't work?"

It will work. No ifs, ands or buts. The issue is, again, hand detailing won't get rid of them and won't hide the bigger scratches. I don't do paint repair. Hand detailing is not paint repair in the sense that I will fill in scratches. The issue is... the customer might set their expectations too high. It WON'T make the paint look like fresh paint. It will make it look much, much better than it is currently.
So therre's the problem. Say I finish said car. I think it looks awesome seeing what I started with. Eran is there and thinks it looks hot. The customer might even be happy... except maybe they don't like that they have to pay so much for it. So now I start hearing about how it doesn't look like fresh paint. They demand a discount.
I want to detail, not fight.
2.
Paperwork. Iused to be a secretary. I got out of it for a reason.
Prior experiences have taught me that I would need all that paperwork though because there's a lot of shitty people out there and they will try to take advantage of you.
3.
I'd have to make the company legal. Here in Washington detailing services have to catch and contain their products. Service washes (that is, quick hand and brush washes with a pressure washer and brush that are done after a car comes out of service) are often exempt from it, but if you actually detail you have top contain your products. This means I'd have to buy this large squishy tarp "thing" that you drive the car onto and wash. The tarp piece collects the water and you have to dispose of it properly at the end. If you do mobile detailing you have to have a truck equipped to carry those tubs of dirty water away.
Not contaiing your water can lead to up to at least a $1,500 fine for one time (it might have been more, but I honestly don't remember).
So those are some of the bigger issues that make it just not worth it. I just want to detail or work at a parts counter. I don't want to run a business.
ooooooooooooooooo well there was a free bump for you then

Actually, I'm the one who compliments your car if I like it.
That includes the clean navy A3 Jetta I saw the other day (the owner asked whos' car was outside and told me he liked it - it was my car), the gray '94 Diamante wagon, or the milky white '62 Impala that showed up the other day.
