Default Unsual Tranmission Problem NO 3rd Gear ALL The Sudden

I dont know exactly what happend with my car today. But I was on the highway in 5th Gear just cruising at 80 MPH steady. All the sudden I hear a big poof almost like if a tire blew out. So first thing I guess is a blown or popped tire so i quickly pull to the side of the road throw my car in neutral and turn it off. Come to notice that no tires or anything from my car was missing or damaged i get back inside. I then start my car I try to put it in first and nothing I couldnt put in any gear....So i pump clutch check my fluid as well ALL good. So then I did wat my friends have told me before for into a gear and dont press the clutch and let the car jump forward as u try to start it .Bam problem fixed im in 1st Gear. So as I start to take off i hear a little tick that got faster as i put more accelration to the car and disappeared wen deacclerating. Im thinking Oh **** tranny so w.e I go slowly shifting from 1st to 2nd then I try to go into 3rd....and what do u kno its not engaging at all.So I get home I had my car idling and i forced in 3rd and it grinded in and then i just let off the shifter back into neutral. I let my car cool down went out to the movies and still had no 3rd gear but the TICKING noise from 1st gear all the way 4th was gone. So my question is...DID my tranny take a shyt while cruising at 5th gear with a STEADY 80MPH speed?Or is that my clutch is leaving me or fork bent under sometype of pressure????

No your throwout or input shaft bearing definately took a crap.

Good time for an ex tranny and new clutch.

Don't forget to have the mechanic who does the clutch install replace the Throuw and input shafte bearing too. I had a shop try and charge me for replacing those, $100 for each bearing labor. I literally fell on the ground, laughed until my sides hurt, stood up and asked for my parts/money back.

I then told him I knew the TOB and IPSB were RIGHT there once I have the clutch/flywheel out and take an extra 5-10 minutes to replace.

This always happens to 3rd gear,s happened to me as well. The good news is that D trannies are a dime a dozen, so dont pay over $100for a used one that is bone stock.
