Default D15 head on a D16 VTEC?

My son went too long on his last timing belt change and thus bent some valves.

I have a chance to pick up a working D15 head cheap so I'm thinking about just swapping a D15 head on his D16 engine. Simple swap? I'd be curious to know your thoughts.

If the original engine is a d16a6 or sohc zc ( non vtec OBD0 ) and the new head came from an OBD0 or OBD1 ( d15b7, dx, lx, cx-b8 ) engine, d15b2 then just use the old Intake manifold and distributor and you should be fine I think.

what does it say on the block? Do you know if it's OBD0 or has it been coverted to OBD1?

Well if it's on a VTEC block you have to add the oil control jet back to the block.

If you're doing the reverse you will need the jet back in its proper location.
