Default MPH gauge

i juss bought a 92 Hatch and my spedomonor went out (sorry if i didnt spell it right) i dont know whats wrong wit it..the RPM gauge and the gas gauge works but the MPH guage dont work and the odomoter isnt turning the miles. any ideas? the guy i bought it from says i might be a "speed sensor" in the tranny. any ideas thanks in advance =D

sounds like it might be the VSS in the tranny or the cluster itself

Check the VSS on the tranny first if it's still connected.

guaranteed its the cluster , mine always goes nuts and then shuts right off then i just give it a bang it it comes right back on , i really have to get a new .. check the ss first tho because they are alot cheaper then a new cluster, or just get another cluster from a junkyard for dirt cheap or if u wanna fork out some money buy a new sir one

koo. question is...the motor got a SOHC Vtec motor. its not the stock honda civic cx motor. also the VSS in the tranny hard to do? i really wanna do DIY cuz im tryin to save as much money as possible to do more work to my hatch. i called the guy he said he had the same problem and he redid the electrical wiring on it. i dont know. also this is my first car i bought soo..i want it to the best =D

i got a used VSS today...and the spedometer still isnt working and the Check Engine Light is still on. i hope i can get it check out in the morning...the guy who i got the motor from says the gear inside the tranny isnt spinning the VSS gear...how much is that gonna cost to fix?

that guy is full of ****, its most likely your cluster. Same thing happened to me, it was the cluster
