preloading the clutch ??

ok i have a question about this i have an EG, 94 gsr w/ factory lsd and running 7 psi. i am having some problems with launching but was wondering what preolading is because i cant keep up with the cost of axles and need to find something to take a little stress off the drive train. i just want to know how it is done really i know it requires letting the clutch off a little bit to get rolling then launching but then i herd about using the e-brake.. ? any hlep on this would be nice searching only gave me 2 results

You could try the drag forum...

I don't drag race my DD. But, in my other car, this routine works for me.

You can try preloading the drivetrain by riding the clutch a bit as you stage. Once you get both stage lights lit, step on the brake and then release the clutch. When I take off, I slip it just a little then dump the clutch like you're describing just so I don't blow my T-case.

You can also try getting stronger axles or getting 2 stage boost controller so that you can launch at a lower boost level to avoid snapping things...

Preload works great for building boost and hooking slicks better then dumping the clutch. Best way to accomplish this is with a line lock device but that is not recommend for street driving since it could cause accidents.

What you could do without a line lock is holding the Ebrake with your thumb on the button. When you get to the staging lights start reving the **** out of your car and release the clutch til you feel the back end drop. After you feel the back end drop slowly let off the ebrake to move to light up your 2nd lights. When the light drops to the 2/3rd drop the ebrake and go. Works great for me.
