Distributor Install Questions
Hey I have a question. I know this is a ***** question but I just removed the distributor from my D15B VTEC motor to replace the coil in it. Well when I tore it out, I left the motor at TDC but I moved the rotor because I had to get a seized screw out for the rotor button. Problem is is that I need to know how to align the marks on the distributor so when I reinstall the distributor and put a new timing belt on tomorrow, the distributor is in time with the first cylinder at the compression stroke. Where are the alignment marks on the camshaft end of the rotor shaft?
First thing, leave the crankshaft at 0 degrees on the crank pulley where u left it.
When u install the distributor the rotor should be at point and #1 cylinder as if the cap where installed. U cant really go to wrong with Honda distributor because their is a slot in the distributor to go usually one way only. After everything is installed, check timing with a timing light. The timing mark should be on the red mark on the crank pulley. See service manual if u have any questions or concerns.
Hope this helps.
