Default f20c sleeves vs. b series sleeves

i went from b series to an s2000. i was wondering how strong the stock sleeves on a f20 are compared to b series. i know the f20 has forged inernals stock, and they can handle about 450 whp safely, but what aout the sleeves?

I was under the impression the S2K rear-end was having issues with 400+HP. Someone on here swapped a 240's rearend in to replace it.

i know that the f20c in the s200's is absolutely nothing like the f series that came in older accords and ludes... but those did have iron sleeves and if i remember right, were the "strongest" factory sleeves.
However, if that applies to the f20c i have no idea
bump for you

the f20c has FRM sleeves like the h22/h23

if you look for the thread highest horsepower on stock block, someone held I think 690hp for a while and then cracked a sleeve, so i think if you shooting for anything uder that level with a good tune you will be fine.

why do people have to sleeve h series when you put most forged pistons in? I thought the sleeves were weak as hell or something

there is no evidence to prove how strong or weak stock H frm sleeves are. I don't know where the "weak" sleeve rumor started.

you have to sleeve H series if you want to run forged pistons because typical forged pistons are made of metals that are not compatible with the FRM. Basically if you put a normal forged piston in a H or F20/f22c then the cylinder walls get all scared and scraped up.

mahle makes pistons that are forged and work with FRM, they are made of a different metal than most forged pistons.

higher silicone content and they do not expand as much

what's frm stand for?
I always got the impression of the "weak" sleeves b/c that they had to be sleeved when you ran forged internals and therefore were shooting for higher hp. guess that's wrong.I knew mahle made a piston that didn't require sleeving the block, but i never put two and two together.
If the higher silicone content causes the pistons to expand and scrape the walls, couldn't you just run a larger piston/wall clearance? And why does this not happen with b's and d's? Is the metal more brittle, so it won't take as much pressure but at the same time won't scratch? or am i way off?
Do the f20s/f22's in accords and preludes have the same frm sleeves?

fyi, i'm not doubting you, I'm a b series guy and just curious about h series b/c i really don't know much about them obviously and would like some info thrown out there

the above poster was saying that the FRM compatable pistons have a higher silicon content so they DON'T expand to much.

frm is fiber renforced material. its a hybrid type cylinder not just a strait iron sleeve like a b series. and the f series in accords and preludes have iron sleeves like b

if you run a bigger piston to wall clearence then you get poor performance and piston slap which would cuase even more wear.

Piston to wall clearance has nothing to do with it. It is the materials that the sleeves and pistons are made of.

FRM sleeves are fiber reinforced aluminum cylinder walls and if you put aluminum pistons in, they will eat each other. Mahle pistons are forged iron pistons, that is why they can be run in FRM sleeved motors.

If one was to resleeve an FRM motor with iron sleeves, aluminum forged pistons wouldn't be a problem.
