Default PLZ HELP electrical issue?

ok heres what happened...i just recently swapped a ls into my 96 ek...well the battery is brand new...i will be going down the road or sitting...and all the lights will dim..the cd player will turn off..and the car will eventually cut off...its like the battery goes dead..i then wait 5-10 minutes..and turn the key back on..and everything is back as usual..working properly...fires right up...does anyone have the slightest clue what is going on? its crazy..!!!
