Kaaz vs. Quaife LSD
Hey guys, just a general question.
I was researching for a new LSD and Kaaz's information told me that their 1.5way lsd was better than others because it didn't lock up on deceleration which is better for drift and autox. Well obviously I won't be drifting but I will be autox'ing. Will the Quaife lock up under hard deceleration? Also which one would ya'll recommend? Thanks

haha , man kaaz has been in the business for a very long time.. they are very popular in japan and other countries.. not much so in the US
kaaz lsd are clutch types, and require a rebuild of the unit after a certain period of time.. quaife units are gear type should last forever

Thanks for the responses guys! I'll be making my decision in the next week or so, I really don't feel like rebuilding clutchpacks for the lsd every once in a while...

Yes, Quaife differentials are torsen type (i.e. gear driven) and don't need any special types of trans fluid or rebuilds. Kaaz diffs are clutch pack LSDs, and do requires "special" trans fluid and need to be rebuilt when the clutch packs loose their holding power.
I had a Quaife in my Prelude many many years ago. Now that it's a track only car, I have a Kaaz. I prefer the Kaaz myself. I use GM Synchromesh Friction Modified with good results. The LSD chatters a bit with slow sharp turns, like in the pits, but otherwise, it works very very well.

I'd recommend the torsen for the street, not sure how much fun a clutch LSD would be on the street, pulling in and out of parking spots, etc.
I do like the clutch LSD on track, for sure, never used it on the street thogh.
p.s. what's with the 117 username?!

Hey Max, with your set-up I would go with a Quaife unit. I've used them on probably 7+ H series set-ups similar to yours and they work great. The upkeep of the kaaz turned me off on their units... plus you cannot beat a lifetime FREE warranty on the Quaife units.
