Macco recently opened up a shop in my area nanuet,NY they currently charge 800$ for their signature paint job which is 2 stage. They said they will cut out my rust, and grind down the other surface rust. and will give me a 5yr warranty on paint peeling and chipping and on the clear coat.
Im getting a factory paint job color on my 1995 honda prelude Si
i was wondering has anyone experienced their paint job before? is it a good idea to have my paint done by them? Yes
or no
?

i havent personally but i have seen buddies cars that were painted by them. they did a horrible job masking, overspray on the windows, painted the radiator and engine, exhuast was painted. the other friends was peeling off on the highway. and these were two different macco shops at two different times.

that paint job for 800$ comes with a warranty on paint chipping, pealing, and clear coat though, did they use it?
ya the one used it but its still a hassle not having a car again. the other one with all the overspay was told they wouldnt do anything. but you might get a good one
My dad had his car painted be them when a neighbor's tree fell on it. The car went from white to a dark grey. They did an awesome job and it only cost $389. I think it was called an imbassedor paint job. No body work was needed so I guess thats why it was cheaper.

The thing about it is there are some good Macco shops and some bad. I'd be weary of a new shop, and wait and see what some of their work looks like. When I had my car done at Econo Paint (local equal to Macco), I removed things I thought might get over spray. If you have mudflaps, don't forget to remove them

Some macco paint jobs arnt so bad, If you do your own bodywork and prep, like i did on my civic, i took the car to them already taped up and [pretty much ready to spray, they did an ok job the have a booth and they spray on a daily basis, if you can do it that way, i think its a decent deal. but the quaility of works going to depend on the experience of their help.
I got the highest priced one, $1,150 after tax, and it peels around the door handles, bumper, the clearcoat came off of one of my mirrors, I wish I would have saved for a real paint job. Looks great thought from about 10 feet.
Every maaco shop is completely different , it depends on who paints it and how well the prep person does their job. I recently got a sig maaco paint job , and to be completely honest it came out fairly well for a maaco job. Keep in mind that if you have your car wet sanded after the curing stage , it will make the paint look like a high end job................ search around the appearance forum , their are tons of threads on the subject.
painting your whole car, maybe? but they sure as hell dont know how to match colors up, i saw that first hand.
i thought they used a 1 step acrylic at maaco? and then polish it to a shine. i guess i thought they didnt clear at all.

they had to paint my car 3 times to get it right. And after having to get it wetsanded AFTER they painted, i found out that they never even took off the paint from the previous time. So its caked on there, it has run, the inside of the mirrors are unpainted because obviously they dont take parts off the car to paint.
just bad all around. Cost me 350 after the paint job in order to get it the way it looks now. its looks great in pictures, but you get up close and you can see MANY flaws.

1 day paint and body is cheaper and its for the same type of paint job that Maaco offers(5 year warranty 2 stage etc..) I had mine done there. It came out ok (plus 3 paint job
