Default Crower stage 3's w/ supertech/RM valvetrain...

Just picked up a set of Crower 3 camshafts. I know that people have had clearance issues when using them with the crower springs/retainers. I know that they've had to machine their rockers in order for them to clear.

My question goes out to anyone who has this combo.... are there any clearance issues with either a supertech valvetrain or a rocket motorsports valvetrain?
Just trying to save time.... if i can get the answer without having to test fit it all, it will be that much easier for me.

As well, an opinions on which company.... supertech or RM?? i'm torn

Theres a real easy way to avoid this Problem: Ditch the Crower3's and get a pair of Skunk2 Pro2's!! Sorry, had to throw the shot!
Youve got the right idea with the ST or RM valvetrain. I run a ST valvetrain with my JUNs and they rev beyond 8300 rpms. If I did it over, I would do the RM.

i had to grind the rocker arms with crower 3s and sk2 valve springs/retainers.

grinding the rocker arms is alot easier than you think. checking the clearance would be the hard part if you didnt know how to do it. its deinately something you could do if you are motivated enough.

Rocket had recommended the ST springs to me because his new springs wont be availible for some time and i gotta get my head sent off. I guess i can always change to RM if need be. I'll be using the ST's along with his retainers with my JUN's.

Honestly, on stock compression i think thats a little radical cam. Matt wasnt a very happy camper after installing these. If you have the opportunity, sell the cams for skunk2 pro series.

some of these inputs dont answer his questions, it telling him what to get instead of what works...to answer your question, c3 with RM valvetrain will work without any modification done to rocker arms

True, but if you see somebody on a sinking ship, tell them to get off of it. Thus, I agree with 98vtec's advice.

lol

very true though

the crowers are good cams for a high compression, overlap loving, big ported head and ITBs beast I think, but as far as a mostly stock h22 goes, I agree, go with the skunk2 pro cams.

BUT he already has the crowers.

how did you figure out that you have to grind the rockers? I just assumed I didn't need to with my eibach (shorter crower) springs and cromoly crower retainers.

thanks for the input and advice guys

i had been contemplating between the Skunk2's and Crower cams.... but a good deal came up on a set of barely used Crower 3's that i couldn't turn down

i'd love to run Skunk2 pro 2's... but even looking at the price of either Skunk2 or Crower cams brand new, it's a little hard to turn down the Crowers considering how much cheaper they are...

but either way, i'm stuck with the Crower 3's.... and i guess RM it is!!
thanks guys

Crower3's with stock Compression?!?!?! Hahahahaha!!!!
That was a good one! I would bet they'll make some decent top end(if that) but it would rape your mid-range.
If youre using a stock (CR) USDM Motor I would get the Skunk2 Pro1's or see if you can dig up a set of used Skunk2 Stage1's. I was thrilled with mine. 12-15whp across the board and revved to 7900rpms with skunk2 valvetrain.
