Default WHAT'S THE RIGHT TURBO???

What's up everybody, i'm new here. I'm here to get some help and advice on what turbo to get for my B16 Crx. I was told to get the Garrett T3/T04E 57 Trim. Now I don't really know much about this stuff but here are the specs:

Compressor Specs:
- T04E housing 2-3/4" inlet 2" outlet
- 57 trim T04E compressor wheel 2.23/2.95 45lb/min

Turbine Specs:
- T31 4 bolt outlet turbine housing available in .48, .63, and .82 A/R ratios
- 76 trim T31 turbine wheel (stage 3)

Like I said I Don't really know what all this stuff means but I was also told to get .60 inlet and .63 exhaust. This turbo is good for up to 475-500 hp. But I really don't want that much hp, I'm doing it on stock internals. so i'm probably gonna run about 8-10 psi. I was looking at the turbine wheel it says it's 76 trim, stage 3. Is that too much??? HELP PLease!!!!!!

You should match your turbo to your power goals and engine size (the amount of air needed at a given rpm to make that power). It’s about understanding the theory behind forced induction and being able to read the “turbo map”.

Here is a good link about turbo maps https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=142398

A real elementary way of explaining turbos is the lager the turbo the more power it is capable of making and will spool up later in the rpm band. A smaller turbo will make less power and spool up sooner in the rpm band. Journal bearing turbos spool later in the rpm band than a similar sizes ball bearing turbo. The better the match, the happier you be with the end result.

I have a gt2871r and probably would have been better off with the gt28rs for my power goal of 300 hp. It spools a little later but still makes good power around 4000rpm on a b16.

There is a lot a tuner can do to make up for some of the shortcomings of a given turbo. I would suggest finding a competent tuner around where you live and talk to him about your goals and his experiences. Map out a plan and you should have a good set up in the end.

get ahold of Maximum Boost by Corky Bell and read it.
learn to read a compressor map.
i am serious. if you want to DIY your turbo system, you must educate yourself if you don't want to waste your time and $$
