CRX wont go

Yeah, more than likely the clutch is gone. If he has jackstands put it up on jackstands, fire it up and do the same thing. If the wheels start moving faster than they normally do (there's residual motion even in neutral) then at least the tranny works.
I reeeeeeally don't think it's the clutch cable. Think about it, if the tranny and clutch are still good and you try to put it in gear with a busted cable, you're not disengaging the tranny. You'll grind gears like you wouldn't believe.
Look, 99/100 times you're going to have to remove the transmission if there's a problem like this. Try this: Reach down with your arm and pull up on the clutch fork. If you can pull it right the hell up, then either your a) clutch, b) throwout bearing, c) release fork, d) fork spring, or something along those lines, is shot. If there's a broken axle or something then you'll be able to SEE that really easily. And if the shift linkage is disconnected there won't be any 'putting it in gear', you'll just feel the shifter flop all around (I know because mine fell off before and I had to fix it with a shoelace in the school parking lot
).

yeah i just thouught of that. You wouldnt be able to so called put it into first if there was no shift linkage it would jkust be like a joystick. Maybe someone stole your axles overnight.
Did this happen overnight????????

he says he can put it in gear without touching the clutch while its running and it dosent do anything
raene gets a cookie
well ladies and gentlemen...raene was right, it was, in fact, the throwout bearing. have any of you ever pulled apart a tranny? you know how the bearing has the two little ears that connect to the spring on the transmission that pulls the bearing back in after the fork pushes it out? well one of the ears broke off (only God knows how) and it was just holding the clutch off the flywheel or whatever...you know... and that's why...so raene definitely gets daps for getting that question right.
oh, and by the way, i'm the dude with the CRX with the tranny problem. thanks for trying to help guys, but i got the e-mail from jarrett about 8 hours too later for it to help any, hehehe. thanks anyway guys.
