Apex WS vs. Tanabe Hyper ???

I am looking to buy an exaust for my 97' GSR and I have pretty much narrowed it down to these two cat-backs.
I know that the Tanabe is a straight through design, and that the Apex isn't. This could hold back some power down the road when I start building the motor NA (NA because I am an autocrosser, and look to roadrace in the future). The only thing holding me back from buying the Tanabe is the fact that I have never heard it before. I know that the Apex WS is quiet, and that is what I am looking for in an exaust. The Tanabe Hyper is supposed to be pretty quiet and deep as well, but I have not spoken with anyone that owns one. Just how QUIET is the Hyper, because if it is quiet and deep, that is what I'll go with, plus it comes in full stainless can and piping for only like $75 more than the WS.
Let me know what you guys think,
Jon

It's not obnoxious. It's audible though, like more than stock.
It's a sweet exhaust, it would be fine for daily driving or listening to the radio unless you are very noise conscious.

good to hear that tanabe has rectified their noise problem . the racing medallion was by far the loudest exhaust i have ever heard. but i would still go with the tanabe, if you want a good exhaust to compare the HM with, go for the apex N1.

Not the racing medallion, the hyper medallion, which is supposed to be pretty quiet from what tanabe has to say. I just couldn't believe that tanabe would produce something quiet.
What does the hyper medallion compare to in loudness and tone. How much louder than stock is the hyper medallion, and does it drone in cabin when cruising at like 45 or 75. I don't want anything near as loud as like N1's or anything.
Thanks for all the reply's,
Jon

Thanks for the reply Kennya70, and just a heads up on a good price for the Tanabe: Groupbuy Center has a deal right now on the full stainless Hyper Medallion for only $475, which is a pretty good deal I thought.
Just how much louder is the Hyper than the WS? I don't want something nearly as loud as the N1.
Thanks,
Jon

My friend has a Hyper Medalion on her GSR and it sounds great! From the outside, it's a little louder than the WS. not noticable if you're in your car driving next to a car w/ it. If you're in a parking lot, you'll hear it, but it's not loud at all. From the inside, it has a very nice, deep tone. I'm not sure how different the new Super Hyper sounds, but it should be close since the muffler is the same. The SS will make it a lil different, but not by much.
