Default s2000 clutch

hi guys i am new to the forum i just got my s2k AP1, i bought the car used for 16g's with 30k on the car and mint condition (silverstone / red interior) i bought it from a family friend.

when i am on the pedal the car runs smooth until i release the gas pedal then i hear a rattle. Is that normal for an s2k? but when i step on the gas the noise stops....?

can someone help me please thank you for your help!

ok i found out what the problem was..

This is the well known clutch "decel buzz". It's only a noise and has absolutely no affect on the mechanical function of the car. The backlash in the transmission sends a harmonic vibration forward into the clutch assembly. This vibration is picked up by the clutch disc springs and is amplified into the sound you hear. Many earlier model S2000s (and many later models as well) have this buzz. Changing the clutch disc can reduce and sometimes elliminate the buzz, only to have it come back very shortly thereafter, so having it changed is no assurance that the buzzing will go away.

I got mine fixed under warranty. I bought a 2001 about 6 months ago and transferred the warranty to my name. Just go in and complain about it. The fix is a newer model clutch disc and it shouldn't come back.
