I just got a vafc2 from a buddy a few days ago and have been trying to tune it. i havent had any luck so far. If anyone have got any ideas or that has one on their ride that is tuned will you give me some of your setting so i can have somewhere to start. none of my friends know how to tune it or theirs for that fact.

Don't be stupid, there are plenty of performance shops and tuners across the country. Just open your eyes and do some research.

if you do it yourself its gonna be a lil harder to do since you cant datalog it...

with the vafc your gonna need a

wideband a/f hooked up
notepad and pen,
someone to drive the car,
varies roads str8, slight up hill, open roads as well for WOT...

notepad and pen are needed to note what teh a/f was at a given RPM and you write it down to the according "RPM"

so basically like this

1000
2000
3000
4000
5000
6000
7000
8000
9000

note it after cheap pull, your gonna have to be fast and it gonna take a long time...

why you want to buy a vafc and not have it working for you 100%?

unless you know how to street tune(which will almost never be as good as dyno tune) it's the same goes for californian or whatever state you are from.

every single one of you is absolutly horrid at detecting sarcasm

I was merely stating that i thought it to be quite humorus how ever single resident of the Los Angles area assumes that every one in the U.S. is as close to Japan as they are, making any honda part, task, or tune like picking up the morning paper.

I do not own a vafc, i was considering purchasing one, but i obviously don't want some hack in ohio (including me or some guy who calls himself a tuner) ******* it up. the amount of hack jobs out here is staggering. So for myself, i would obviously have to do some reaserch, because i can't take a vouch for a tuner that resides in SoCal, which would make things much easier if i could.

In no way was i suggesting that I could, would, or should do this myself

Post a request for a tuner in s2ki's Ohio forum. You will more than likely be able to get a recommendation there.

http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showforum=95

<edit>
Couple seconds of research: Rick at Raceline north of Cincy.

http://www.s2ki.com/forums/ind...tuner

BUT...if Mase is coming anywhere near you, he's the best.

alright i know mase is a site moderator, and i have been to his page a few times, but who is he? does he travel the U.S.? how much does he charge?

but on a serious note...S2KI is unfamilar territory. I like the way you guys flame me much much better

maybe when i am more confident in what the hell i am talking about will i use S2KI. cause there is still so much i do not understand.

i didnt mean for a drama fest. i agree that taking it to a tuner would be the best. i live in a very small town in SE Missouri and have looked for someone to tune it. there is a shop in st. louis that will but havent messed with any S2k's before with a vafc and then there is a one in poplar bluff with is where my vafc came from and the shop owner has no idea how to tune them. he just installs them with isnt hard. as much abuse i have put this car through so far (broke both alxes, replaced the clutch and rear end) i will prolly try to tune it myself to a point. i know how far i can push the car. i know when enough is enough. if i cant figure something out soon without hurting anything then it will be taking off.

Looks like John at Lightspeed in St. Louis has tuned a couple s2ks with VAFCs:

http://www.s2ki.com/forums/ind...80422

A VAFC is only as good as the person who tunes it...so, personally, I wouldn't have one if I couldn't get it tuned (and luckily Mase works in my town). I'm sure you know you run the risk of burning a valve if you get the A/F too lean. But, if you get a wideband or can get to a dyno w/ wideband then here are some notes on how to tune:

Mase does travel to tune...even to Europe. He's based out of north Florida though. He splits time between Gainesville and Jacksonville. He primarily tunes out of Stage6 (http://stage6motorsports.com)...you may have seen some of their work on streetfire: Joe's twin turbo Ford GT (1200+hp). Stage6 morphed from Speedcraft which built one of the first turbo kits for the s2k.

Not sure what his schedule is...but he does make trips north, but not sure to what cities or when. He's not as expensive as Projeckt makes him out to be. And he's worth it...I've seen him take a car that another tuner spent hours tuning and in 10 min get another 15whp out of the tune (and actually by doing something counter intuitive...retarding the timing and making the mixture more rich)

Oh...s2ki can be rough to "boiis lokn 2 get th3ir tune 0n" but act like the adult you are and we don't bite (at least not hard enough to where it won't heal).
