High Compression GSR???
what cams are you gonna use that need 13:1 compression, and what octane is pump gas where you live? Here is cali, 91 is highest octane rating at most stations, some states have 92, 93 etc.

reasons?? That's like saying you should only boost 5 psi. on a stock bottom end. Just curious.

I think he means that 11.5 is considered to be a "reasonable" level for most street use that will work well with most "reasonable" aftermarket cams and a reasonable tune and common fuel found at most stations. 13.5 is a number like 30psi of boost...yes you can run that but the question is why do you want to? Are you using the car for a specific application that would require this or is it just a "really cool" number that will impress all the fellas?
The intended use, type of fuel, quality of the engine build and parts used for good reliability can range widely for 2 different engine builds using those compression ratios. The point is...unless you need 13.5 compression, why would you run it?

It will have stock cams i just wanted a lil bit more power , it will be a street car .i live in NY and pump gas here goes as high as 94. I thought 13:1 was a little overboard myself but i just wanted some reassurance thanks for all your help and feedback
If you're only running stock cams on a daily driver, you really don't need to raise your compression ratio. If you wanted a slight bump in power, you could always go with a 2-layer head gasket and some well chosen bolt on parts (intake, header, exhaust). At a later date you can always add cams and some tuning (engine management). Just do a search on here under "b18c" and you'll find loads of info on things you can do as well as some tried and proven parts combinations.
Again thanx for all your info , the reason i was gonna do pistons is bc the motor and the car is being built for me ( its a smashed shell ,pics if you'ed like) And pistons are something that i would probably never do later on down the road and they were included in the original agreement. So i figured get them out of the way now and do cams and small bolt ons later BTW it will have a I/H/E ...Thanx again
If you want to do pistons now and make things very easy to tune for you since you seem somewhat inexperienced with building and tuning (nothing wrong with that, we all have to start somewhere). I would suggest you pick up a set of USDM ITR pistons (P73-A0) which would give you a reasonable bump in compression and you could still get away with a stock ecu and some minor fuel tuning. I would normally suggest you look at JDM ITR pistons (P73-00) or stock b16a2 (Pr3) pistons if you were a little more experienced, but you would need some better tuning at that point. One way or the other, when you add cams (larger than type R/CTR) you will need tuning then like Hondata etc..
