crx seat?

Well okay as you can see the crx really need new seats!
Anways I'm getting some 99-00 civic seats and just want to know what I would need to do to get them to fit into my '91 crx. So let me know what I need or need to do to have it fit into my crx. That's all
. TIA
you will need to swap the seat pans to get them to work in your CRX. But I think the 99-00 civic seats are wider than our seats, you might have some problem there. Swapping seat pans will take about half a day.
Oh man, you have an HF like I do. I can tell by the seats alone.
My seats were worse than yours but I tell you what, I bought a set of 90 CRX DX seats and after swapping the rails (becuase the DX seats didn't have them on) they bolted right in. No messing with pan swaps, or anything, whole thing took like 10 min.
If I was you I'd look around for a set of DX or Si seats of your year and just bolt them in...if you can find a good set.
I picked up a sweet set for $90 in minty shape.
****EDIT****
I almost forgot to tell you that if I was you I'd pass on the 99-00 Civic seats because I bought a set and put them in my 1970 Datsun truck and they are a lot (A LOT) thicker than even the early 90's seats.
You'll be driving pretty high in your CRX, so another reason to pass on them!!!
But I know how crappy it is to be in messed up seats, it's your call.

okay so I'm still pretty new to the crx but by seat pan you guys man the rails/silder or as correctly the whole seat tracks? Okay so even if I bought the complete seats with the stock rails/sliders (99-00 seats) it'll still be hard to put it on? I don't know how the 99-00 seat rails look compare to the crx but if it's just taking off the complete rails/slider from the crx and putting on the new one to where it "should" almost bolt right in then I'll do it. But "Swapping seat pans will take about half a day." Really? WOW Otherwise trying to find some older 91 and below seats will be almost kinda hard. Oh also besides even if the 99-00 seats are thicker I'm pretty short anyways so it'll kinda help. I mean I see fine and okay as it is with the stock crx seat but a little thicker wouldn't hurt(I'm 5 and 2 short=p)
***oh okay seat pan you mean the piece under the seat the whole thing I have to swap to the 99-00 if I want it to fit using the stock rails/silder correct? But only swap the seat pan? Let me know. YES, direct bolt would be the effortless thing but it'll be hard to find one and I can use a new seat. Well let me know how and what not but I'll hold on the seats for now just yet till I know exactually what i need to do or if I can find a 91 below seat. (though I was going to buy the set 99-00 seats for $100 mint?) Let me know. Thanks so far guys.

In the CRX frequently asked questions they have an article that explains how to swap seats real easy. Basically as long as they are manual seats (that is no electronic controls to adjust) you can just swap the seat pans from your old seats to the new seats and that way you can just bolt up your original sliders. This works b/c all the manual seat pans are essentially the same from around 88-00 (or so I've been told). You do have to mess with the upholstery some but it isn't that difficult. Just make sure you have some of those hog ring pliers with some new rings for reattaching the upholstery, it makes it a lot easier and they are cheap.

i have a 91 dx hatch with 99-00 si seats they bolted right on only thing they sit a lil high but im short works for me i dont know if rex and hatch pans are the same but if they are they should work correct me if wrong
well if that's correct then I'll probably just buy them and try it out if not I can give it to my bro who has a 97 ex and his seats are pretty worn/hard, his seats freaken lost cushing and is almost like sitting on a damn bench
. But anyways from what you've said and everyone else about seat pan swap and using stock slider/rails I'll most likely try it as I know it'll be hard to find a set of 88-91 seats so yeah, really no choice. Or I can have crx seats re-upholstery but asked around alrerady and some will charge me close to $200 buck!
so yeah. Well if today's nice I'll try to take off the seats and kinda compare it to my bros 97 ex. Are 99-00 seats+rails/silder just about the same as the 96-98? Well thanks so far.
I've looked around before in the crx FAQs a bit but didn't really find much but I'll look around again.

from what they've said I guess not? But hopefully it won't be too much of a pain in the *** once I buy the seats and swap the seat pans
Yeah thinking it'll work for me too (height wise
)

damn! Went looking around for more info. and looks like it can be a bit of a pain in the ***. Anyways either way seat pan swap or not I'm going to need some seats PERIOD
But with that being said and everyone else telling me about the pan swap and so forth just want to know could I just order some rails/brakets etc. from seat companies instead just like you would with racing seats? Do they make such? Just woundering. OTHERWISE looks like I'll have to do the seat pan swap thing. Well let me know and thanks!

Damn, if I found a place that could do it for under $200 I'd jump on it. I got a local San Jose shop that quoted me $400+...screw that.
$200 is CHEAP trust me, if you don't have $200 to get ur stocks redone, how much are you getting the other seats for? It doesn't seem like it would be worth you buying those other seats then fumbling around with seat pans and like you found out it's not as easy as it sounds (but it really is).
You said if it doesn't fit your car you'll give them to your brother, so then you'd be wasting that money for the seats...why not just spend the $200 and have your stock ones done nice, at least that's my vote.
Save time and hassle!

well that $200 bucks wasn't really a quote it was more of a like you'll be looking at $200 or so meaning more $200+ I would think. As well as the 99-00 seats thought I told yall how much I'm getting it? Yeah, I did which was $100! even from a local guy. So you tell me $100 bucks even and messing with the rails etc. or $200+ on upholstery? I rather take the $100 bucks even

***YEAH,well it wasn't that nice out today but clear enough for me to go and take out the seats from the crx, took at look -looks like it shouldn't be that hard to do as I think it might be. So yeah I'll probably take that, do the seat pan swap. And if I doesn't work out (if I f* up somehow
) I'll give it to my bro-it's NO waste? Why would it be? I said his seat is all worn out, it's freaken like sitting on a damn bench hard to the back
Though I do have a spare set of seats I haven't told yall about but I need to order rails/brackets for them(Reacros). Though it's not a good idea to put them on the Rex at the moment
just isn't maybe later on in the future
nothings wrong with them I just rather have some stock seats on the Rex for now being my DD

hey i am running 97 civic ex seats in my 88 crx so let ask you what year your crx is? you need the seat pans and rails for the year of your car anf then just take you new seats and put them you the crx pans. now not everything is juss gonna fall into place you may need to MAKE a few things work but it works. only bc the new seats are a lil wider than the crx pans. i've been driving for like a year on mine witrh no problems
Yeah I figured that, after reading what everyone told me. That i'll have to put the new seat (99-00 seats) into my crx seat pan with stock rails and bolt it right back. Only thing I'll ahve to do is just pull of the rings that hold the cloth to the pan and whatever else that is there. So basically the the bottlem seat pan along with stock rails, correct? nothing else. How was it? was it hard when you swaped it? Any tips?
My crx is a 91 HF

**JLefevers** how long did it took you to do yours? Peeps saying it like it's so hard, making me think it'll be a bit hard but looks kinda easy and hoping it'll be a piece of cake
someone said it takes 1/2 a day to swap it.....
