Searched: Aftermarket Speaker Install into OEM CRX Rear
I had searched and found a good wealth of information regarding the install of speakers into a car that did not come with the speakers ('88-'89 CRXs mostly).
Unfortunately, I have found little to nothing indicating solutions to installing modern speakers (Alpine Type-S 6.5"s in mycase) in the rear brackets.
So my questions follow:
1. Anyone installed these without hacking up the OEM bracket?
(I'd like everything to be able to go back to stock in this car when I'm done with it if I ever want to. That includes the engine, but we won't get into that here.)
2. If someone has, do you have any pictures of this install? The Alpine's I have for the rear just so happen to have the wonderful feature of 4 mounting holes in a square if you connect the holes; the old OEM had basically a triangle of 3 holes.
I'm basically trying to avoid dropping holes into the bracket and dealing with rattling, poor SQ as far as direction goes, etc.
3. Any help or flames are appreciated!

I just so happen to have Type S's in the rear of my CRX (pulled them back out my SLX before I sold it)
They went straight in from what I can remember, just drilled a hole. I don't have any pics though...I rarely even listen to the radio at all

i actually have two brackets for 89 CRX that mount 6.5 speakers, because i pulled out my speakers for a roll bar...some guy gave them to me when i bought springs, worked perfectly...dont have pictures, but i also had to use those because the rear speakers were already removed...

So brackets do exist specifically for 6.5"s, I understand that. My 6.5" type S's will fit just fine in the bracket itself that I have, the only issue is the mount points are different, and I was wondering if anyone had done anything sneaky to solve this problem as opposed to going DIY-core on it and dropping new holes in the bracket itself. I just figured the OEM speaker holes would be stronger (with backing an all) although I guess I could use small bolts and weld a washer on there.
Thanks for the replies guys.

I just used the stock one as a template and cut new ones out of 1/4" fiberboard and then cut the proper size hole in it.

I got lazy and decided that Home Despot might have something close enough in pitch / length for me to use the Alpine adapters that come with the speakers and put those into the OEM metal mounts and put THOSE into the actual speaker mounts
I've spent the last 30 minutes hooking one plastic Alpine mount to one metal Honda mount. It'll look pretty good when all is said and done though

I don't really listen to the radio myself, but I'm about to put a single din Eclipse 7000 in, I figured I outta have at least something in the way of OKAY speakers to use it with.
I don't ever planning on using a sub, but porno on the face plate (optional), GPS navigation and nearly fully adjustable sound was hard to pass up for the price. So I've got all of that ready, just waiting for it to get to me (shipping sucks, so do sketchy people) and I figured I'd go ahead and finally put something that isn't completely shot in for the rear fill.

Might be able to make a few bucks off of them, I know if I knew they were around for cheap I'd buy them, but I put most of my $$$ under the hood and the fenders, not in the interior. I just like to be more comfortable and less Spartan than a DX offers most
