Default cheery bomb exhaust?

I already posted this in tech/misc. thread but i want a somewhat quick responce and its kinda crx specific

Alright so i have an appointment today at 3 to get a new cat installed, my cat has a hole in it.
I have a full exhaust system installed, headers, 2inch (i bleeave) piping, larger can. all put on by previous owner.
now i know nothing about exhaust

When i walked into the exhause shop to make an appointment i noticed they cary cherry bomb exhausts, does this company carry a cat that would work on my 91 crx? if so are they inspection passing?

i live in pa where my car is emission exempt because of the year, but it still gets a visual look over.

What should i ask for when i take my car there today?

when i made my appointment i requested a 2" high flow cat. not sure what there going to put on if i dont specify more.

ummm you can put any cat you want on your car.. there going to have to weld it in there anyways. why does it matter if its a cherry bomb cat or not?

I've always heard/seen cherry bomb when associated with muscle cars, or older street rod style rides, not so much on imports or hondas. A cat is a cat for the most part, if your getting high flow then thats good enough.

Cherry bomb glasspacks (the red long tube'd exhaust) are mainly used as resonators... I'm pretty sure they don't make cats anyways.. I was thinking of grabbing one, painting it black and using it as an exhaust, but I've heard them and they are just WAY too loud.

iv also heard those red long cherry bombs dont last long. i had a regular style cherry bomb muffler on my civic for about a month. the oval kind of muffler. it was deep. but the muffler itself was way too big. get any damn high flow cat. better yet if you want more flow just get a test pipe made.

Yep, you will need a muffler and it will sound decent. It won't last though, they usually break down with in 6 months.

^^^^ Agree with both of them - I used to work at Midas, and we'd put them in as resonators to rid cars of "raspy" exhaust. Or we'd put them on Rednecks' trucks as mufflers (apparently they think that humping their sisters is cool too).

According to the poster at the exhaust shop cherry bomb makes cats also, not just the glass packs, but they are mainly for muscle cars and trucks. i didnt realize this before i poster.

They installed a high flow cat that i beleave is a ganeric cat but they told me it has the same performance as the mangnaflow they carry and are 30$ cheaper...

all i know is that its high flow, its on my car, it sounds nice, and only cost me 101$...

I just checked the receipt and its a Thunderbolt cat
